Karri McPherson (b. 1995) is a contemporary geometric painter and muralist. After completing a Bachelor of Creative Art (Honours) at the University of Southern Queensland in 2020, Karri moved to Newcastle, NSW to pursue her artistic ambitions. Her practice explores geometric art as a mechanism to influence the way that different surfaces and spaces are experienced. Karri focuses on interpreting and recontextualising her surroundings through brightly painted compositions, employing techniques that alter how a surface is understood in relation to the space it’s in. Her geometric designs are inspired by her surroundings, both architectural and environmental, and her paintings embody elements from the environments that she creates the paintings in. Karri enjoys producing work on different scales and surfaces as it challenges her to reconsider the properties of shape, form, and colour in relation to new contexts.
